A blend of 70% malbec and 30% merrlot has an earthy and gravel nose that produces a fruit forward wine with silk tannins. This everyday drinking wine needs to breathe and reach room temperature to fully blossom and expose its full potential. Full on plum and blackberry Malbec heavy with a full bodied finish.
This is one of those wines that need to be paired with food. On its own it is rather ordinary. For its price point it is still is a stretch to buy again.

I hadn’t taken malbec seriously until I started spending more time in the Cahors region. I’m partial to Cabernet or Bordeaux as the French would call it. I’d been drinking the Argentinian version and found I’d adapted to it. This Chateau De Grezels “Black Wine” as they call it is true to the original craft and if given a chance, you’ll find it a flavorful alternative to the Cabs and Bordeaux we are frequenting. Yes, it’s fruit forward, not a Pinot, but the Merlot and the 12 months in oak barrels gives it the complexity that makes it a step above a boring average table wine.
